Alta Badia: Two Lift Projects for the New Season

Known for its fantastic panorama and culinary delights, Alta Badia is one of the most popular ski resorts in South Tyrol. In the upcoming season, winter sports enthusiasts can expect two new ski lifts. Investments will also be made in upgrading the snow-making systems and expanding the slopes.

At the northern edge of the South Tyrolean ski area Alta Badia lies the village Badia. For the 2019/20 season, a modern 10-seater gondola lift is being built here. The new La Crusc 2 gondola will replace the old La Crusc double chairlift. The base station is located at 1,840 meters next to the exit of the Santa Croce chairlift. Over a distance of 960 metres, the gondola lift leads up to La Crusc at 2,015 meters.

In order to make the ski slopes more attractive, the La Crusc slope will be widened and the snowmaking systems improved. In addition, there is a new, easy variant on which the difficult sections of the slope can be avoided. A new winter park is also planned, boasting a kids fun line, a freeride crossline and a funpark.

In Colfosco, there is also a new lift in the making. A modern high-speed 6-seater chair lift is being built for the Stella Alpina drag lift. The slope will also be extended. Because of the changed course of the lift route, the descent is not only wider, but also significantly longer. So there is enough space for the ski slope as well as the funslope. In addition, a new snow-making system with an underground reservoir of 5,000 cubic metres will be built.

In addition to the two new lifts, the offer will also be improved in other parts of the ski resort for the upcoming season. The Braia Fraida chairlift will have new, more comfortable chairs and the capacity of the 6-seater Ciampai chairlift will be increased from 2,200 to 2,400 people per hour. At the Gardenaccia chairlift in La Villa, the ski trail is extended and connected to the blue piste no. 25. Also the red slope no. 26 will be widened here.

Alta Badia is also investing diligently in the extension of the snow-making systems. A new pumping station is being built in Plan Sponata. The installations on the Sponata and Biok-Pralongià 2 slopes will be renewed and upgraded. In addition, the Vallon pumping station is to be improved and the Planac reservoir enlarged.
