The Ski Resort

130 kilometers (80.7 mi) of skiable terrain, the entrance to the famous tour Sella Ronda and being part of the ski network Dolomiti Superski: All these features make the resort Alta Badia an absolute highlight among enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders. 70 kilometers (43.4 mi) of slope are marked as blue, which makes this resort perfectly suitable for beginners and families. But also advanced skiers will find more than 50 kilometers (31 mi) marked as red terrain to ensure a challenging yet fun time. Professional skiers have 8 kilometers (5 mi) of black slopes at their disposal. For good and enthusiastic skiers, the world famous Sella Ronda is a highlight not to be missed.

Snowboarders and freestyle skiers have their own area for practicing tricks at the terrain park at the Piz Sorega. In addition, the Fun Slope called Biok Park at the slope Bioch No. 13 has lots of freestyle elements such as kickers, steep turns, roller-coasters and waves. It is perfectly suitable for beginners, which is why the freestyle-newcomers from the local ski schools come here to practice. Children of up to twelve years of age have their own park called Children’s Ski Carousel Park. You can reach this park going down the slope Pralongià 2 in Corvara. The many broad slopes of the South Tyrolean ski resort provide perfect conditions for snowboarders. Freeriding fans will find their calling in one of the many deep-snow and back-country skiing areas.

The Sella Ronda leads you on skis around the Sella group for 26 kilometers (16 mi). On this tour you will pass the ski resorts Alta Badia, Gröden, Arabba and the valley Fassatal. You can ski the Sella Ronda either clockwise or counterclockwise. The tour lasts about four hours, if you don't stop at the other resorts. However, it is recommended you get the Dolomiti Superski Skipass and discover 500 kilometers (310.6 mi) of terrain in the other resorts. The Skipass includes twelve ski resorts and in total 1.220 kilometers (758 mi) of terrain. In addition you have gorgeous views onto the mountains and the surrounding landscape. Apart from the Sella Ronda, there are a bunch of other ski tours which start in Alta Badia. A popular one would be the First World War ski tour which leads around the mountain Col di Lana. In eight hours you will master nearly 100 kilometers (62.1 mi).

On Mountain Dining

The mountain hut Ütia de Bioch at 2.079 meters (6820 ft) is built in a typical Ladin mountain cabin style. The kitchen includes Mediterranean, Ladin and Tyrolean dishes. Specialty of the house is the so-called „Gourmet Plate“.

A culinary special feature in the resort Alta Badia is the so-called “A taste for skiing”. Each season star chefs create a special dish for participating mountain huts. Activities

There are 80 kilometers (49.7 mi) of winter hikes leading around the area of Alta Badia. One hike we would recommend is the hike to the “Störes-Wiesen” (meadows) and the Pralongià Plateau. The tour begins at the cross-country skiing center Alta Badia in San Cassiano/Armentarola. After an hour and a half of hiking you should reach the meadows, after a good two and a half hours you'll arrive at the Pralongià Plateau. The fun part: back to your starting point you can take your sled! The larger part of the signposted routes is also perfectly suited for snowshoe tours.

Ice skating and curling are available at Lake Sompunt. The area is open for business until 11 PM. Aside from rental services, there is a bar where you can grab a small bite to eat or enjoy a hot or a cold beverage. In addition, there is a indoor ice skating rink in Corvara.

Tobogganing is always a lot of fun! The nature sledding track „Trù liösa Foram“ leads from the top Piz Sorega all the way to San Cassiano. In addition, there is another tobogganing track leading from the Cherz Plateau, traversing the “Jägerweg” (path), ending up at the Parkhotel Planac. Or try the track leading from Spescia, through Armentara to La Crusc.

Après-Ski and Nightlife

There are numerous bars and taverns down in the valleys, which invite you to go out and celebrate. Typical Après Ski fun can be found in the club called Underground in Corvara or in the music bar called La Bercia in the village of La Villa.

Lounge bars with a more comfortable atmosphere are for example the Iceberg Lounge Bar in Corvara or the Altrove in the town of Colfosco.

Dining and Restaurants

Alta Badia is a region for real gourmets and food experts. There are three Michelin Star awarded restaurants within a radius of 6 kilometers (3.7 mi). At the restaurant St. Hubertus in the town of San Cassiano, head chef Norbert Niederkofler serves exquisite South Tyrolean cuisine according to the motto „Cook the Mountain“.

The restaurant La Siriola, which is located in San Cassiano as well, has an amazing highlight for its guests, aside from the excellent cuisine of chef Matteo Metullio: the icing on the cake is the so-called “Chocolate Room”. It's a show room with more than 30 different kinds of chocolate put to exhibition. After dinner, you can try the different chocolates in the tasting lounge.

The gourmet-restaurant La Stüa de Michil at the hotel La Perla in the town of Corvara is famous for a cuisine combining tradition with innovation and creation while using only excellent produce. The genius behind it all is head chef Arturo Spicocchi, who carries his Michelin Star proudly and well-deserved ever since 2008.
