Folding Ski - Simple to carry, easy to ski: The Ibex Tactix is an innovative approach to equipment built to move easily, deploy tactically, and perform under pressure in unique, adventurous situations.
Traditional ski equipment poses many limitations for easy transportation and tactical applications during adventures in the mountains. In order to improve the transport of skis across snow, rocks and other mixed terrain, Elan created a foldable ski with high-end ski performance and zero limitations of movement. It easily attaches to a pack quickly and securely.
To make the transportation of skis easier and faster, Elan has developed the first fully foldable touring ski, the Ibex Tactix. Due to decades of customer and product feedback, Elan was able to identify all customer needs to intelligently develop an efficient folding ski with uncompromised skiing performance. To achieve this design feat, Elan took the Ibex skis, cut them in half and connected them with a revolutionary folding mechanism that is built on a fixed aluminum plate that rotates 180 degrees and dissembles a 163cm length ski to a 90cm length ski in less than 20 seconds for easy transport. Furthermore, the performance of the plate makes the skis easier and more reliable to ski.
How it works: Skis are divided into 2 parts connected by a plate. When folding ski, the plate is rotating around its pivot about 180 degrees. In folded state the plate is fixed on the front part of the ski, the rear part ski is folded around central joint for 180 degrees. In ski mode bearing plate assumes all forces in the area of the joint.
