Atomic Backland 86 SL (Backcountry Touring Ski 2023/2024)

Product Summary

The Atomic Backland 86 SL is the perfect tool during both downhill rides and steep ascents. Thanks to its low weight, the ski is easy to master even on longer trips. The Atomic Backland 86 SL's full retail price is €649.99. The Ski costs roughly €40 more than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it an upper mid-range model. Effortless to ride at all speeds, this ski is just right for all intermediate skiers. The Backland 86 SL is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 158 and 179cm.

The ski in details

Built to fly up the skin track and rip on the down, the new lower-impact design of the Atomic Backland 86 SL will have you exploring further and faster.

A superlight ski for full-day missions in the mountains, the all-round Atomic Backland 86 SL is designed to fly up the skin track and rip on the way down. A reinterpretation of the original Backland SL construction, this ski features a new lower-impact design that is the result of a life cycle assessment that has led to less production waste and the reduction of CO2 emissions by 30%. The state-of-the-art All-Terrain Profile uses a new natural-wood-to-fiberglass ratio to create a ski shape that enhances climbing and improves downhill performance on harder snow surfaces. A Carbon Backbone adds stiffness throughout the length of the ski, while the poplar/caruba woodcore keeps the ski lightweight and nimble. HRZN 3D – the next generation succeeding original HRZN tech – features a beveled tip that adds surface area for better float in powder while also reducing swing weight for easier, faster, more powerful skiing. Whether its powder, hardpack, groomed or anything in between, the Backland 86 SL delivers absolute confidence in any touring terrain. Choose an Atomic PreFit skin for the ultimate touring set up.
