The Ski Resort
The ski resort Silian Hochpustertal offers mostly descent learning areas in form of red and blue runs. Once you´ve reached the top station and slipped into your skis, 21 well-groomed kilometers (13 miles)of slopes lie before you. As it´s mostly designated for beginners and intermediate skiers, it is the perfect destination for families and guarantees an unforgettable winter vacation. The blue run No. 3 serviced by chairlift Gadein is ideal for beginners and people reentering the world of skiing and riding. By skiing down you´ll reach Gadein valley station. You can follow the other blue runs to either access the middle station of Thurntaler gondola or the base station of Thurntaler chairlift.
Intermediate skiers find red marked slopes everywhere in the resort. It features unbelievable 69 percent of red runs. Follow trail No. 1 that starts at the top station of chairlift Gadein and merges with No. 2. It descends right into Silian´s valley. Don´t miss No. 4, 5 and 5a that all start at the mountain station of the Thurntaler chairlift and take you back to the base. Follow the reds 6 and 6a in order to get to chairlift Außervillgraten.
If you count yourself among advanced experts, you should definitely check out the black marked runs No. 8 and 9. Entrance for No.8, which actually starts out as a red slope, is the chairlift Gadein top station. To get to the top you need to grab Thurntaler chairlift and off you go on No. 9. In case you still don´t have enough, you can check out the black marked ski circuit starting at the base station of Außervillgraten chairlift.
Little skiers love their own kids park with training lift right next to ski tow Gadein. This is a great place to familiarize with standing on skiers and ski school instructors help hereby.
Snowboarders are welcome in the ski resort and will get their fill of thrill at Yellow terrain park right between the red run No. 2 and the black No. 1a, close to Thurntaler gondola. New features this season: the 10 meter (32 ft) elephant box, 10 meter (32 ft) wave box, 4 meter (13 ft) butter box and a mini shred.
Interesting facts
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 1,307 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Austria is 720 m. Most runs are therefore relatively long. The high point of the ski resort is located at an elevation of 2,407 m.
- Average snow depth during the season is 94 cm at summit elevation and 49 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 106 cm at summit elevation and 57 cm at the base.
- Sillian Hochpustertal features 5 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Austria is 44 sunny days. January is the sunniest month with an average of 3 sunny days.

On Mountain Dining
The second option is accessible for skiers of all levels because you can take blues,reds and blacks to get there. Thurntaler Rast, located at the base station of Thurntaler chairlift is a mid-mountain restaurant where coziness is guaranteed!
The red No. 6 is your only access to the third restaurant. However, beginners and families with small children want to steer clear of this trail and decide for an other mountain restaurant.
Must-Ski Runs
Head down on the black No. 7 to get to Außervillgraten. Starting point is the base station of chairlift Außervillgraten.
Kammabfahrt is by far the longest trail in the ski resort with its 11 kilometers (6,8 miles) and a height difference of 1300 meter (4.265 ft). Follow the red No. 5 along the chairlift Thurntaler to find every skier´s dream. The wide trail is real perfect for carving.

Activities
If you are willing to go for a thrill, head to the toboggan run at Leckfeldalm. From there, speed down the hill for 7 kilometer (4,3 miles) into the valley. Leckfeldalm is well-known for traditional cuisine and has the perfect location for taking a break in-between tobogganing.
Après-Ski and Nightlife
If you are a self-declared Apres-ski fan, then go and check out ´Fun Apres Ski Schirmbar´. End your ski day with ´Flirt-Drinks´ and snacks at the valley station of Thurntaler gondola.

Getting here
Silian belongs to Hochpustertal and is situated right between Lienz and Bruneck. For those arriving via Brenner freeway, take exit Brixen-Pustertal and follow signs for Hochpustertal and Silian.
Coming from the Tauern freeway A10: Exit at Lendorf ( junction Spittal). Then continue to Möllbrücke and after take Drautal B100 to Lienz. Follow the signage for Silian.
By Public Transportation
It is possible to come by train. Your destination is the train station in Sillian. It´s only 1,5 kilometer away from the gondola valley station.
