World Cup feeling at the Hochstein

Skiers who eat up kilometers and full professionals will not be happy in Lienz for a longer period of time, as the overall offer is simply too limited for that. Nevertheless, there are one or two skiing treats in the two ski areas.

Insider tip Hochstein

At Hochstein it is usually a little quieter. This is where the locals often hang out, or even the connoisseurs of the scene, who know that there are great runs here. The two long slopes in the upper area of the Hochstein at the Hanserwiesel lift are particularly beautiful. In addition to a great view of the Lienz Dolomites and the town, you'll find wide carving runs here that are also usually quite empty. Even more sporty is the descent down to the middle station via black run number 3, but one of the most interesting slopes in the region is certainly the World Cup run down to Lienz. The undulating terrain is beautiful. Another highlight: the slope ends practically in the middle of the town - an extraordinary flair. Skiers with stamina should take the descent from Hochstein down into the valley to Lienz. With over 1,300 meters of difference in altitude, your thighs should be burning by the time you reach the valley at the latest.

Extensive ski slopes at Zettersfeld

The Zettersfeld ski area is much more extensive, but less demanding. The slopes around the Steinermandlbahn are beautiful. The terrain is especially inviting for extensive carving. Down to the Faschingalm you even overcome around 600 meters in altitude. A shortcoming in the Zettersfeld ski area, however, is the lack of a downhill run. The only way back is via the 4-seater gondola lift to Lienz. But here you can enjoy the most beautiful and sunny view over the city and the Lienz Dolomites.
