The mountain Grosseck-Speiereck is awesome for adventure-seekers and is the gate to 50 km (31 miles) of trails and pure ski enjoyment. 12 lifts bring winter athletes up the mountains that range up to 2400 meters (7874 feet). It´s high elevation guarantees best snow conditions from the end of November until Eastern and there are snow cannons available as well. Hence, even if nature isn´t willing to treat the area with snow you can be sure to find the best powdery snow. The trails are perfect for all abilities and levels by featuring 52 percent blues, 34 percent are ideal for intermediate skiers and 14 percent are expert only slopes. Beginners should check out the training descends and skiers with more knowledge get to enjoy the countless deep-snow trails. The family-friendly resort even offers night-skiing, what a blast for the whole family!

A special highlight for the little ones is the Smarty kids park. The training area at the base station in Mauterndorf is perfect for little skiers to find their ski legs. The magic carpet brings them right back up the mountain after speeding it down. Of course they will always be attended by specially instructors who will do everything to make their learning experience a pleasant and memorable one. Even if the kids are not skiing they have many options to have fun in the snow: tobogganing, tubing and building a snowman or an igloo. The mini club welcomes the smallest visitors with professional supervision. 200 square meters (2152.7821 square feet) big is the kids indoor world and also full of surprises: a play castle, play corner with art supplies, an iceberg movie theater, a kids disco and more. There´s no room for boredom. Sooner or later everyone gets hungry from all the skiing and romping so that it totally makes sense to join the ski instructor for lunch at the Smarty-Farm, the kids restaurant at the Peterbauer Almstube. Kids here get a tasty three-course menu every day. It´s optional, but if you want your kids can be picked up in the morning and brought back at night by the Smarty kids taxi.

On Mountain Dining

With three mid-mountain huts and four restaurants at Grosseck-Speiereck there´s a huge variety that offers something for every palate. You will find everything from local and hearty fare to more sophisticated treats. Of course most of the restaurants have the typical mountain fare like Germknödel (jam-filled dumpling) and Kaiserschmarrn (pancake specialty) on the menu. All of the places have generous sun decks and often deckchairs that are totally free of charge. Right at the base station is the Schi Alm. This extremely comfy restaurant has Lungauer specialties on the menu but also serves personal favorites. At night they even have take-out pizza. Hits of the week is an other thing here: Every Thursday you can experience a typical mountain hut night with barbecue specialties and live music, just as an example. WiFi is also available. The restaurant Panorama Alm is 2000 meter (6561 feet)  above sea level and definitely reflects what its name promises. It comes with killer views of the winter mountain world so that the refined food and drinks taste even better. Come here on Mondays and you´ll be in the middle of the spectacle ´Feiern am Berg´ (Party on the mountain) with culinary delights, live music and laser show. The self-service cafeteria restaurant Sonn-Alm is a great choice if you don´t have that much time on your hand for your lunch break. With having favorable menus of the day and traditional food it´s a hot spot for children and youth groups. You can also sit down with your self-packed lunches. The team of the Speierckhütte spoils their guests with traditional food. When you get out at the top station you´ll see the the Peterbaueralm. If you´re up for typical mountain hut romance and regional dishes this is your spot. An other comfy mountain restaurant is Oberfeldalm that only has organic specialties from their own farm on the menu. So treat yourself with smoked ham from the Lungauer Alp beef. The Trogalm is an other insider tip by locals and visitors.
