Ischgl: Post-season is pre-season and planning is in full swing

The winter season 2016/2017 at Ischgl being over, there is still no reason for the operators of the Silvrettaseilbahn AG to rest on their laurels. Planning for the upcoming season 2017/2018 is already in full swing, and it wouldn’t be Ischgl if it was not to include plenty of novelties: That is the reconstruction of the Palinkopf tow lift, the new Viderböden reservoir as well as the modernization of the Alp Trida Restaurant.

After operating more than 20 years and carrying about 12 million skiers, the old ski lift was replaced by a new six-person chair lift designed by Doppelmayr Corp. The system has been completely redesigned and has undergone many external changes, such as the back sides of the new, ergonomically designed and heated seats which depict the artists of the previous Top of the Mountain concerts. Besides an optimized safety design and convenient safety lock bars, the predecessor of the low-noise, low-vibration lift of the newest generation will be used at another winter sports resort in Scandinavia. Thus, the new high-tech cable lift comprises quite a few improvements for its guests of wintersports.

As of 1985, the Silvrettseilbahn AG has been operating the Idalp snow making facility, which was expanded in the course of the years. Since both the existing reservoir site and the upper and lower slopes are constantly in motion, they were no longer approved for operation. After some time of consultation, a suitable reservoir for the upcoming season was finally found, which is to serve as main source of snowmaking for the Ischgl ski area.

Moreover, the Alp Trida Restaurant will be undergoing a major modernization project. Main part of the renovation will be the self-service area of the restaurant, as the interior became quite outdated over the years and the restaurant’s capacity was more and more stretched to its limits. In order to meet the requirements and expectations of its customers, there will be plenty of updates in respect of logistics and technology.
