The Ski Resort
The small ski area Niederthai Umhausen is located in the middle of the Ötztal Alps at an altitude of 1,549 to 1,680 meters. The total of 4 kilometres of slopes can be reached by 3 ski lifts.
Over a bridge directly in the centre of Niederthai you can reach the shorter of the two T-bar lifts, the Matau lift. The longer Wolfsegg lift leads up to the 1,680 meter high Wolfsegg. The blue runs on the Matau lift and the Wolfsegg lift are suitable for both experts and beginners. Beginners also have a baby lift available in the area.
In the Niederthai ski school you learn the ploughing and curve technique quickly and playfully. Help is provided by the professionally trained ski instructors.

- The vertical drop from summit to base is 131 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Austria is 720 m. Runs and slopes are therefore relatively short. The ski resort takes you to an elevation of 1,680 m.
- Average snow depth during the season is 42 cm at summit elevation and 16 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 49 cm at summit elevation and 21 cm at the base.
- Umhausen Niederthai features 43 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Austria is 39 sunny days. February is the sunniest month with an average of 17 sunny days.

There are numerous restaurants in the region. On the menu cards of the "Restaurant Kaminstadl", the "Gasthof Krone" and "Ötzi's Einkehr" are local specialities as well as international dishes.

Activities
Cross-country skiers will find a good network of trails in Niederthai. The Ötzidorfrunde, the track Sonnenplateau, the Frühloipe and the track Tellerboden can even be used at night thanks to lighting. 50 kilometres of well cleared winter hiking trails offer the best conditions for exploring the landscape around Umhausen off-piste.
Two toboggan runs also promise lots of fun. On the 5 to 7 kilometres long toboggan run Horlachtal you can stop off at the Larstigalm or the Schweinfurterhütte after a walk of 1 to 2 hours. The Tauferberg toboggan run, with a downhill run of 1.5 kilometres, can be reached faster with a walking time of only 30 minutes. It is located near the Wolfsegg lift in Niederthai. The Tauferberg Inn is a place to stop for refreshments.
The offer is extended by skating rinks in Umhausen and Tumpen. For those who find ice-skating and curling too little action, ice climbing at the waterfalls in the Ötztal Valley is just the right thing. Thanks to spotlights, climbing is even possible in the evening hours, for example at the waterfall in Längenfeld.
Various signposted ski tours attract winter sports enthusiasts to the high mountain peaks around Niederthai and Umhausen. For example, there are trails to the Kraspesspitze (2,954 metres), the Hochreichkopf (3,010 metres) and the Zieselsbacher Rosskogel (3,081 metres).
Après-Ski and Nightlife
The Bierstadl in Niederthai and the Pub Motiv in Umhausen offer the opportunity for après ski.

Niederthai lies in the Tyrolean Ötztal.
Coming from the west, you can reach the region over the Arlberg Pass or through the Arlberg Tunnel. Then drive to Landeck and follow the A12 towards Innsbruck until the exit Ötztal. Now you take the B186 to Niederthai in the Ötztal.
From Garmisch-Partenkirchen, winter sports enthusiasts can travel over the Fernpass and via Mittenwald/Scharnitz/Seefeld. On the A12 take the exit Ötztal and follow the B186 to Niederthai.
From Munich you follow the A 93 to Kufstein and then the A 12 Inntalautobahn in the direction of Bregenz until the exit Ötztal. Then follow the B186 to Niederthai in the Ötztal valley.
