Sölden also has a lot to offer freeriders. Already due to the topographical conditions, there are good opportunities for a detour into the terrain. Especially in the Giggijoch area, but also in the area of the Gaislachkogl mountain station, there is a wide range of terrain that is also popular with deep powder snow fans. Freeride beginners are in good hands especially at the Giggijoch, while the pros are more drawn to the Gaislachkogl, which offers powder runs in all directions.

The practical thing in Sölden: From the lifts it is often only a few meters of ascent to the freeride terrains. In addition, thanks to its altitude, Sölden is guaranteed snow from November to early May.

Since safety is paramount in freeriding, avalanche transceiver tests and training centers are offered. The ski schools in Sölden also offer special freeride courses. Not only are skiing techniques honed, but you also get a briefing on avalanche awareness and are educated about alpine dangers. There is a freeride checkpoint at the top station of the Gaislachkoglbahn. At the top station of the Langegg chairlift on the Rotkogljoch you will also find a freeride tower that provides information about the current avalanche warning level and allows you to test your avalanche transceiver.
