Coming from Denver, Loveland is the first ski resort you'll see. With a season from October to May and 422 inches of snow each season it is among the most popular ski resorts in Colorado.
Enjoy plenty of powdery snow and discover nothing less than 93 trails. Loveland will definitely keep you busy for a while no matter if you are a novice or an expert. There is a whole bunch of trails for all ability levels.

Check out the two base areas: Loveland Valley and Loveland Basin. Basin is definitely the bigger one. The unbelievable height of 3965 meters (13008 ft) makes it one of the highest ski resorts in Colorado and in North America. It's an expert skier's dream out here since 46 percent of the trails are pretty tough to handle. Still, novices and intermediates won't miss out.

Beginners should head to Loveland Valley. Take one of the two lifts to explore the easier trails. You'll find greens and blues only but in general it tends to get a bit crowded so expect to wait in line for a while.

To get serious with skiing and snowboarding you have to head to Loveland Basin. Hit the challenging trails that are perfect for expert skiers, the remaining mountain features mostly blue runs with a smattering of a few long greens going all the way down to the base. Bennet's Bowl and Dealer's Choice are the highest blues in the resort. On the ridge you'll find a ton of additional blues, where you can switch back and forth to leave no room for boredom.
You can start at the base and the lift will bring you to the tippy-top. From up here you can hit all the famous black runs like Over the Rainbow, Avalanche Bowl and Zoom. Right at the peak you'll find nine bowls, accessible by Chair 9.

If you've never been on snow before, Loveland's experienced instructors will help you to learn proper techniques and enjoy your time in the snow. There is a variety of programs and clinics available that don't only address beginners but also skiers with some more experience under their belt. The upper third of the run Roulette features a terrain park. The shaping team guarantees that you´ll always find new features, every time you get here. The upper park, for instance, includes now rainbow boxes, three rollers, a huge butter box and a combo box. Loveland Basin has some great restaurants. The Basin Cafeteria serves the classic American breakfast as well as American specialties for your lunch break. The Wedge Bar offers Mexican treats, a huge salad menu and American highlights like sandwiches and burgers. Moreover you'll find all kinds of beers from all over the world. The bar convinces with American snacks in case a small hunger comes up.

Après-Ski and Nightlife

The Rathskeller is pretty much the only hangout for Apres ski fans in the resort. All of those who are up for some serious partying should drive to Denver where you'll have endless possibilities and you can continue till the crack of dawn.

Right in the ski resort it can be tough to find ideal fine dining options. The surrounding towns on the other hand have some restaurants that will please every foodie. The Chimney Park in Windsor convinces with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu goes with the season and the ingredients are mostly local. Bonefish Grill in Johnstown, Colorado is well-known for their seafood dishes. The Domenics in Fort Collins is a comfortable wine and beer bar. Inspired by Italian cuisine and accompanied by selected wines it is surely going to be the perfect night.

Getting here

If you're coming by plane, book your flight to Denver International Airport. Twelve rental car companies have their base in the airport building and you can rent a car for the time you're in the ski resort.
The drive is pretty simple since you only have to follow Interstate 70. As soon as you've passed Georgetown you will already see Loveland ski resort. But you can also pre-order Shuttles for the time of your arrival or just take a taxi to Loveland Valley or Basin when you get there.
