The Jungfrau ski region surrounding the ski resorts Grindelwald and Wengen is one of those trips that is guaranteed to live long in the memory. Why? Well, the mighty Eiger (3970m), Mönch (4107m) and Jungfrau (4158m) peaks are three good reasons, and they certainly live up to their billing as one the most impressive mountain massifs anywhere on Earth. On Kleine Scheidegg, skiers almost feel like the Eiger north face is within touching distance.
The slopes surrounding Grindelwald make up two ski areas: The smaller Grindelwald First in the north is a popular spot for freestyle skiers and snowboarders, thanks in no small part to the excellent White Elements terrain park. Families with young kids also appreciate the quieter slopes here. The runs on the southern side of Grindelwald are substantially busier. Here, the Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen ski area connects the resorts of Grindelwald and Wengen with each other. The Kleine Scheidegg is also home to the world-famous Lauberhorn course and the Hotel Bellevue des Alpes, where the movie “Nordwand” was filmed.

Mürren Schilthorn is the third ski area which is grouped within the Jungfrau ski region. However, it should be noted that the car ride from Grindelwald to the Mürren Schilthorn valley station takes a good half hour and a more expensive ski pass is required to explore the entire Jungfrau region. As a result, this test focuses on the two ski areas around Grindelwald and Wengen.
