Ideal destination for a day trip just outside of Vancouver!

Cypress Mountain is the perfect destination for spontaneous winter athletes. If you’re looking out your window in Vancouver and thinking the weather would be perfect for a day on the slopes, a short, 35-kilometer drive will have you out there in a heartbeat. The two adjoining ski areas Black Mountain and Mt. Strachan have got something for every ability level. For intermediate skiers, we recommend the trails “Horizon” and “Crazy Raven.” Expert skiers here get the most bang for their buck, with most trails being either black or even double black diamonds. Many of those are also glade runs, a definitely plus for experts. Beginners and families with small children will find the perfect practice area around the Easy Rider chairlift. For parents ready to send their kids off to explore on their own, we recommend staying in the Mt. Strachan ski area, where every trail ends at the Creekside Lodge. The restaurant in Creekside Lodge is also a good choice for a quick snack in between runs or after a long day on the slopes. One thing Cypress Mountain does not have to offer, however, is real après-ski, and Cypress Creek Lodge is the only hut in the entire ski area. One advantage it does have, though, is its proximity to the city of Vancouver, which is a short 35 kilometers away. In the city you should have absolutely no problem finding plenty of places to let your day on the slopes go out with a bang.
