The Cross-Country Area

In Konthiolahti, cross-country skiers and biathletes can already start their training in October, thanks to a 1.5 kilometre cooled ski track. Every now and again the Finnish Kontiolahti is the venue for Biathlon World Cups. In 1999 and 2015 the Biathlon World Championships also took place here. Kontiolahti Stadium is located about 15 kilometres north of Joensuu and offers a shooting range with 30 illuminated targets. In summer there are also roller-ski tracks.
